Nine out of the twelve members of the deficit reduction “super-committee” have been named by congressional leaders. Yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) appointed Senators Patty Murray (D-WA), John Kerry (D-MA) and Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) to the committee. Today, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) announced he had appointed Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI), Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and Republican Conference Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX). Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has named Senators Jon Kyl (R-AZ), Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Rob Portman (R-OH) to the committee. As of this time, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has not yet named the Democratic House members who will sit on the Committee.
Representative Hensarling and Senator Murray will serve as co-chairs of the bi-partisan committee.
